SHIVA SHELLS, aka SHIVA EYES, PACIFIC CAT’S EYES, SUNRISE SHELLS

Shiva eye shells are the opercula (“trap door”) of various types of sea snails, predominantly Turbo. Towards the end of the snail’s natural life, the operculum detaches and sinks to the seabed. This fragment is in turn tumbled by wave action and deposited on the beach. Classified as organic gemstones, each is unique.

Shiva eye shells are steeped in both folklore and religion. Named after the Hindu God, Shiva, the shell represents the Third Eye found in many depictions of the God. Folklore names Shiva Eye Shells as “Mermaids’ Money” and good luck to travelers and fishermen. They are attributed to the building up of wealth, raising extrasensory perception, psychic abilities, mental imagery, intuition and concentration. This talisman is often used to understand dreams and ward off nightmares.

Coming from the sea, this shell has ocean-like soothing, comforting and serene vibes and will bring peace of mind and relaxation. The spiral shape has great significance as well, representing the Golden Ratio.

We offer hand-and highly-polished Pacific Cat’s Eyes of various grades, in sizes from 3mm-30mm, and three colors: brown, green, and red. Unpolished shiva shells are available, and sold by weight.
